How to get the WhatsApp green tick

July 8, 2026 · 5 min read

The green tick is the verified badge next to a business name on WhatsApp. It signals an official, verified account and builds trust with customers. It is granted by Meta, not bought, and not every business qualifies right away. Here is how it works.

What the green tick actually is

Official Business Account verification, shown as a green checkmark beside your display name. It is separate from being on the API: you can send and receive on the WhatsApp Business API without a green tick. The badge is about recognisability and notability, not access.

Who qualifies

Meta looks at how notable and recognisable your brand is, using signals like news coverage and public presence, not paid placements. A well-known brand is more likely to be approved. A brand-new business with little public footprint often is not, at first.

The practical steps

  1. Get onto the official WhatsApp Business API and complete Meta Business verification for your organisation.
  2. Set a clear, consistent display name that matches your brand everywhere else.
  3. Build a healthy sending history with a good quality rating. Low quality hurts your case.
  4. Submit the green tick request through your WhatsApp Business Account, and be ready to point to public evidence that your brand is recognisable.

If you are declined

A decline is not permanent. Keep your quality rating healthy, grow your public presence, and reapply later. Many businesses get verified on a second or third attempt once they are more established.

How Boldally helps

Boldally Chat runs on the official API, so your account is eligible, and higher plans include assisted or done-for-you green tick setup. You keep the verification because your WhatsApp Business Account is registered to you. See what each plan includes on the pricing page.
